Dragon Eye

The dragon-eye, also named as Bulgy-eye, has always been regarded as traditional goldfish which is called" Chinese Goldfish" in Japan. There were goldfish with bulgy eyeballs in "Fish and Algae" drawn by Emperor Xuanzong of Ming Dynasty(1426-1435), including its long history. It was introduced from Guangdong of China through Yokohama to Japan in 1895. It is short with well-developed eyeballs protruding out of eye sockets like eyes of the dragon in ancient legends. The eyeball could be in many sharps,such as ball-sharped, pear-sharped, cylindraceous, grape-shaped, etc. They start to protrude gradually one month after hatched, and form a fixed sharp tow or three months later, which may very for different varieties. Normally, it has rich colours.
